Police verification no longer required for passports: Yunus
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today announced that police verification will no longer be required for passport issuance, eliminating unnecessary harassment for citizens.
"Obtaining a passport is a fundamental right. We have made a rule ensuring that police verification is no longer needed," he said.
Speaking at the inaugural session of the District Commissioner (DC) Conference at the Chief Adviser's Office this morning, Yunus emphasised the government's commitment to reducing bureaucratic hurdles.
"There is no need for such harassment anymore. The government's role is not to create obstacles but to deliver citizens' rights to their doorstep," he added.
Addressing birth registration, he stressed the need for a simplified process.
"Every citizen should be able to obtain a birth certificate at any time. We must ease the difficulties through leveraging the
innovative capabilities of DCs," he said.
